After 3 Days and 8 Races, HOPE Sailing wins ORC-A Class at SetSail Black Sea International Regatta 2018.
In 2017, HOPE Sailing was the winner of ORC-B Class in the same Event. We can call this an excellent
start of the 2018 Season

Mircea Carp “Carpone” joins HOPE Sailing Team for 2018 Season

Former Olympic FD Sailor (Moscow, 1980), 15 times Romanian FD Champion and then Coach of the National Sailing Team, Master of Sports, but, above all, a Sailing Enthusiast, Mircea will add his experience and analytic thinking to the already existing skillset of HOPE Sailing Team

MANIFESTO

We are HOPE Sailing Team, and we are Sailing for Sportul Studentesc Yacht Club. Many of you don’t know it, but Sportul Studentesc is one of the oldest Romanian Sailing Clubs, established in 1916.

We are a Team of Amateur Sailors and, 100 years later, in 2016, we went to our first Sailing Races. We believe it’s never too late for anyone, and we believe Sailing should be practiced by, and supported by, Enthusiasts willing to go an extra Mile. Nautical Mile.

We are a Team of both Old and Young, both Experienced and Inexperienced, both Medalist and Week-end Sailors, but one thing unites us all: our Passion for this beautiful Sport.

Our Mission is to promote Amateur Sailing and Racing in Romania. We want you to join us and start Sailing.

Because, when we sail together, Romania is winning.

    Teddy C. Dumitrescu

    Architect, founder of HOPE Sailing Team, Teddy is the CEO of a Communications Group. He is a sailing enthusiast whose passion dates back to the early 1990’s on Herastrau Lake

  • Mihai Fagarasan
    Mihai Fagarasan

    Is a member of Sportul Studentesc since 1979. Besides his extensive Off-shore Racing experience, Mihai didn’t give up on his Dinghy passion and is still a medalist in the 470 Class

  • Ramona Dumitrescu
    Ramona Dumitrescu

    Former Model and TV Actress with ProTV and PrimaTV, Ramona discovered her passion for Sailing in 2016. She didn’t miss a single race with Hope Sailing Team ever since

  • Mihnea Sandu
    Mihnea Sandu

    IT professional, married with children, and well-recognized Off-Shore Sailor, Mihnea is also multiple medalist in Dinghy Sailing and most notably in 470 Class

  • Cezar Batog
    Cezar Batog

    Managing Director of a Media Agency, Cezar is also passionate about Fishing and Sports Cars, and co-organizer of TourGather Event in Romania. Cezar graduated SetSails Skippers School in 2015

  • Mircea Carp
    Mircea Carp

    Gratuated from Mechanical Engineering, Mircea, is also known by sailing people as “Carpone”. He is a former Olympic Sailor in FD Class (Moscow, 1980), 15 times Romanian FD Champion and then Coach of the National Sailing Team. Master of Sports, winner and medalist in many Regattas, Carpone also participates to international FD Events

    Marian Strachinescu

    Marian is the Managing Director of a Media Sales House. Graduated from Engineering and member of Hope Sailing since 2016, he is an adrenaline junkie and also professional Poker player

  • Dragos Lupescu
    Dragos Lupescu

    Former medalist in 470 and FD Class, Dragos is also a Scotland certified Maritime Helicopter Search and Rescue Specialist. He worked for several years with the only Romanian private SAR Helicopter Crew

  • Oleg Margina
    Oleg Margina

    Doctor of Medicine in Epidemiology with a PhD in Economics and a wide experience as the CEO of a number of world leading metallurgical companies, Oleg is a professional Sailing instructor at the famous SetSails Skippers School. He has a passion for Sailing from a young age, having won National Yacht Modeling competitions

  • Mihai Neagu
    Mihai Neagu

    Is possibly the best example that Sailing and Marketing go hand in hand. After more than a decade as Sales and Marketing Director, he is now the CEO of a well-known FMCG Company, and returned to Sailing after graduating his MBA
